According to the USDA, food waste is 30-40 percent of the food supply. That’s about 133 billion pounds of food wasted. Food waste is a persistent problem in the U.S. despite heightened awareness of this growing epidemic and collaborative efforts to stymie its effects. While the food left on your plate and later discarded is the primary driver, there are several other factors at play.
